New Quay

16/3/15
The day started cold and continued that way. No rain but a lot of ascent. We tried to keep as much altitude as possible by selecting optimum routes but the plunging descents to near sea level only meant one thing! We did pop to the coast at Cwmtydu (mostly because of it's name) it is a nice cove complete with smugglers caves and an old lime kiln.

The climb out of the bay was unusual in that it had at least 3 zig zags but usual in that it was a sustained 1:5 for about a kilometre. We arrived at the Black Lion Hotel (Dylan Thomas' favoured watering holes- alegedly!) and, for the first time, we actually went for a stroll along the harbour before returning for a good sea bass in cockle and cream sauce.

Figures:
Distance:- 36 km
Cycle Time:- 3 hours 46 minutes
Average speed:- 9.6 kph
Total Distance:- 590 km
