We woke on the spring equinox to sunshine and the promise of good solar eclipse views. A few digital photos sort of showed what was going on but fortunately a man in a van had some glasses he had kept from 1999 so we could make a direct observation.
The road north was fantastic as the one year old bridge over the small estuary just for cycles and walkers saved a few kilometres.
A fine cliff road then took us all the way to Barmouth bridge which is another short cut for cyclists and avoids a huge distance inland.
Sue got very excited at the concept of sharing the bridge with a train and as the sun disappeared in a North Wales mist we continued on to Pen y Garth B&B which was once the Youth Hostel in Harlech. An early arrival meant we had to spend an hour or two in the Blue Lion Cafe but after checking in we deviated from eating modern Welsh quisine in favour of a really good carribean restaurant.
