We left New Quay in sunshine and it was nearly a day of not needing a wind proof. The B road out of town was quiet and we took a detouring minor road to avoid the A487. We saw a pair of Red Kites (Wales' unofficial national bird) displaying acrobatic manoeuvres above us- a sign that Spring has arrived. The route went through the picturesque village of Oakford before joining the cycle way in to Aberaeron- a very short day!
We found Arosfa B&B, a quirky quay side cottage with excellent food.
Aberaeron is a beautiful town planned by John Nash in in the 1790's. It has a focus on good food so we started at The Hive which is famed for it's home made ice cream then finished the evening at the Harbourmaster - great food in both!
Sue's aurora watch App had informed her to amber alerts for the borealis so we had an hour staring into the black in the hope of seeing the green curtain but no success.
Breakfast was great, I had kippers but Sue chose well with laver bread and cockles.
