Sandhead

18/4/15
We left Wigtown and decended to Bladnoch and Scotland's most southerly distillery.

It was either the tailwind or some secret pills she ate but Sue again set off at a racing pace and again broke our average speed record. In the words of our German Yoga teacher on Ko Lanta, she earns the title of Zooper Sue. A gentle climb today with more great views of the hills to the north, I passed a farmer in a tractor, he opened his door as I passed and, with a big Rab C smile exclaimed, led ya behin. I smiled but it was some minutes before my brain could translate this to she's left you behind!

We say hello to as many cows and sheep as we can, this group reluctantly posed for the picture.

We met the sea again near Luce Sands the childhood excitement of glimpsing the great expanse of blue never leaves me- even though we are seeing rather a lot of it!

I saw our first Gannets and so prompted our snack stop and watch them plummet dive for fish.

We turned the corner at Glenluce and got on to the Rhins of Galloway. This bay is largely occupied by the MOD so remains unspoilt, however we did pass several tanks and soldiers with rifles pointing out to sea. We arrived in Sandhead which has the Tigh na Mara hotel with the best meal I have had yet and a tea shop run by the auntie of Claire's who we work with in Cheltenham. We shall go and visit tomorrow.

Figures:
Distance:- 46.1 km
Cycle Time:- 2 hours  52 minutes
Average speed:- 16.1 kph
