After an intense debate about the Scottish referendum with a couple at breakfast time, we strolled down to the harbour for a coffee in the morning sun and watched a group of over 20 black guillemots pairing up for the breeding season in the harbour.
It is hard to believe, in calm weather like this, that the town was getting so battered by SW winds that it was abandoned as a trading port in 1870
The navigational transit, two markers and lights, still exists on the harbour wall and up the main street which guide boats into shore.
We took the cliff top walk north to explored Dunskey Glen, a small valley that runs down to the beach. Chestnut leaves and bluebells were starting to appear and proof that the Rhins gets accelerated warmth from the Gulf Stream
Our evening meal was excellent seafood in Campbell's Restaurant before a lovely sunset.
