With a really bad forcast we made an earlier start.
The road along Loch nan Uamh was very quiet and beautiful and took us to the view point of departure of Charles Edward Stuart after the Jacobites' last stand. Just as Bonny Price Charlie had left Scotland for good, we left the road for a new cycle way to Mallaig!- Well not quite all the way.
There were several long climbs with views of the Skye Cuillin and the Church of Our Lady of the Braes, made famous in Local Hero.
Ariasaig provided a welcome stop at Cafe Rhu continuing the undulating coastal road to Mallaig.
We arrived in Mallaig in wet weather and just got ourselves into Sheena's backpacker hostel before the worst arrived. The fridge was packed with food and drink left from the bank holiday weekend so we stocked up for the next few days but had a great meal in the Fish Market restaurant across the road from our hostel.
Figures:
