Drumbeg

16/5/15
We lingered over breakfast until a shower passed over. The changeable weather characterised the day and we stopped 100m along the road to put waterproofs back on. A Czech cyclist came to chat, he lived in South Wales and was away for 3 weeks but told us tales about a difficult time he had replacing a wheel on the Isle of Skye. Everything he owned displayed a desire to keep it until the bitter end.

As we climbed out of Lochinver the dark mass of Suiven came fully into view along with it's neighbours Canisp and Cul Mor

Rain showers and sun shine were a feature for the day but the strong wind was firmly behind us

Unfortunately all tea shops on route (one small shack) were closed as Saturday's seem to be a quiet day due to people arriving or leaving for a week away.
The coastal aspect of this road make it a strong contender for being better than the Summer Isles.

We arrived at Drumbeg as another shower came over, this was the scene from our B&B on arrival:

This is what it looked like half an hour later- proof of the claim that the Scottish experience four seasons in a day.

Although Drumbeg has a hotel that is struggling (not helped by the fact that they don't serve food to non-residents) but it does have the most incredible village store selling local produce and crafts. Our B&B at Croft 338 was very nice and Christine kindly made us an evening meal.

Figures:
