As Sir Bradley Wiggins breaks the hour cycling record at 54.526km we strive to complete that distance each day!
The airport location turned out to be an ideal vantage point to skirt Aberdeen and avoid going through the city. After crossing some main roads, the busy back lanes soon quietened down and we crossed the River Dee to gentle rolling hills, rejoined the NCN 1 and enjoyed a bit of a tailwind.
Road building in this area in the form of a western bypass of Aberdeen and a fast link section down to Stonehaven look as though this area may be transformed soon.
With only brief glimpses of the sea in the last few days, our path brought us on an asymptote to the coast again.
And with no tea shop stop again we arrived at the curiously unmarked Royal Hotel in good time to explore Stonehaven.
A grey appearance but with a nice harbour and good food in the Ship Inn.
Stonehaven is famous for inventing the deep fried mars bar but the queue at the chippy was too big so we still haven't tried one.
