Cullen

3/6/15
I made a quick visit to Findhorn post office after breakfast and sent about 4kg of stuff I really don't need. Thanks for doing my washing mum!
With a lighter load, serviced bikes and a tailwind we shot along to Elgin for our Cobb's tea shop next to the library. Getting out of Elgin was more of a challenge, in spite if the overgrown cycle signs.

More pretty lanes and disused railway led to Spey Bay which is the scene of many Gold DofE canoe expedition finishes. We had coffee in the Dolphin centre before continuing along the coast to the sturdy towns of Buckie, Findochty and Portknockie, the latter linked by a spectacular cliff road.

Our final disused railway track with several grand viaducts brought us sedately into the Cullen Harbour Hostel. For a 67 km day it was considerably easier than our Bettyhill day, warmth, flat and wind all helped. The landscape is so different now, very few sheep, many more cows and sunbathing pigs- no wonder they look so red!

Figures:
Distance:- 67.6 km
Cycle Time:-  4 hours 33 minutes
Average speed:- 14.8 kph
Total Distance:- 3274 km
