Our first stop was Dunnottar Castle just outside Stonehaven. In a fine position. Chatting to the man managing the car park revealed it has been used as a film location so it's modern day invasion is from Hollywood!
The lanes were lofty and quiet with distant views of the sea until Inverbervie. We stopped here at Kondit coffee shop which had classic dishes such as Mince, Tatties and Skirlie and Stovies, Oatcakes and Beetroot.
The next stage was next to the shoreline but was akin to riding on cobbles for about 4km it was the roughest tracks our poor Nomads had been dragged over.
The final run into Montrose was on a new Sustrans routing of the NCN1, crossing a viaduct and weaving through woods and golf course. Greenbank B&B was tucked away in a Cul-de-sac and we had a hearty meal in the Northern Vault pub.
