Hove

17/7/15
With a bit of a headwind we continued to Newhaven where in the harbour we were informed that Ho Chi Minh once worked as a pastry chef on the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry.

Peacehaven and Saltdean gave little in the way of nice cycle space so we stopped at a quirky tea shop with a pink bull in Rottingdean.

We passed in the shadow of Roedean School, which stands like a Victorian institution against the sea, then cycled by the Regency white of Brighton and Hove.
A cycle way eventually took us away from the noise of the A259 and past the marina to the rusty remains of Victorian archways that could perhaps have money spent in them rather than the Brighton I 360 which seems to be attracting some controversy.
This tall viewing tower at the point of the collapsed West Pier is promised to be complete by 2016 at a cost of £46 million.

The Smart Sea View hotel is more of a hostel with some dormitory rooms, we checked into our twin room then had a lovely evening with Nigaire's and her family at her house in Poynings.

Figures:
Distance:- 24.0 km
Cycle Time:- 2 hours 5 minutes
Average speed:- 11.5 kph
Total Distance:- 5264 km
